I hope those teleconnection combos hold, plus the forecasted Greenland block development. Put all that together with the very active souther branch and things do happen.

Now with which intensity remains to seen.

FV-XXX is lights out for IMBY - won't post b/c it's meaningless at this point. But the storm is tucked at Delmarva and slams E and C PA and surrounding regions.

Also - comes in on the 23rd not the 24th

In my humble opinion, there's a strong possibility thus doesn't get classified as an El Niño. The atmosphere hasn't coupled with the ocean.  That's not to say we can't see ENSO Pittsburgh's like effects, but SSTs are barely hanging on.

I would add that these recent storms are "mid winter" by my definition - so it remains to be seen if this winter is, in fact, backloaded. I'm thinking we have our winter (here in MidAtl) and Spring comes early. But, surely, I digress...

Depends on who you ask. Some would say I haven't been - not for a very long time now. :classic_laugh:

Seems to be pretty decent OFM support for this to be huge. I'm seeing an inside the benchmark storm coming up from down deep with a potential stall.

Before you jump on the date difference - remember that the corollary is not exact and slight timing and spatial differences are to be somewhat "expected".
