February 6-??? OV/GL Heavy rains and flooding

Staff Recommended Posts

Very windy here at the moment which may dry roads quicker before we drop below freezing

All the ongoing flooding, plus more rains to come. Expect downstream effects as all this water heads south and raises rivers in the south backing up the rivers to the north and more rain on top of that. Hope we get a break before Spring arrives.

Better hope one of these systems don't turn out to be a more prolific rain producer, like a cutoff or closed western trough. That'd be brutal.

Licking river at Waterworks Rd and Horns Hill Rd is almost up to the road. There are ponds of water everywhere in the yards and fields on Horns Hill. It has been a crazy couple months of weather around here....

That wind is fierce and the temp drop means business. Dropped 30º since 2pm.

Thought this was interesting.

And throw in the wind chill, quite the change in some areas.

“Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me”

Some of the older folk may remember that. :classic_biggrin:

Bring it on. Mill creek still high. Let’s see if it can get out its banks.

Flood warnings posted for the Ohio until further notice. This is really reminding me of 2015 I think it was my memory sucks with stuff like that. Widespread flooding of the Ohio in February. The wettest year on record

My laptop broke so I probably won’t be posting as much until I get it fixed.

But the Hocking crested somewhere between the 10th to 15th highest in recorded history from the last rain event... the highest since April of last year. Now we’re forecast to get up near that level again. I’ve noticed these forecasts underestimate more often than not.. makes me wonder if it takes soil moisture and runoff into consideration.

QPF Days 1 - 5 (2/11 - 2/16).

I’m kind of surprised that the GOM hasn’t run out of water yet. :classic_dry:

I'm not sure if that would've been 2015, we were locked in the arctic freezer that month.

Maybe 2014 then 😂😂 I know Cliche brought it up not too long ago but of course I can’t remeber. I think it was 2014 now when trying to remember things in my head 😂😂
