February 10-11, 2019 | Winter Storm

Staff Recommended Posts

0Z GFS at about same time looks sheared out more, so maybe just a few snow showers for MD and Southern PA.  Holds together more up into Western PA and NY State.

I'm sure it's the usual suspects declaring winter over based on long term modeling/NAO etc but I'm also sure that's the same group that declared it over in '18 when we recieved 12" the 2nd day of 'Spring" last year- as one poster said, BITTERCASTING is frowned upon, it's February 6th, not March 6th...OldManWinter has spoken and is not through with you yet...not by a long shot

ct got 8 inches of snow in feb in 2018 that's it .

and we will see what feb has in store for this year but right now a big fat 0 the pattern needs a big change

our next big hope is this time frame will see

Last paragraph from sterling leads me to believe that they really have no idea. Lol and models aren't giving much help

0z 32k NAM looks good early Monday morning for MD/PA line, Southern PA and Eastern portions of PA and Jersey.  Looks like it's trying to do a little coastal redevelopment too.

0Z ICON has precipitation coming in later Monday morning but goes most of the day for the same places as OZ NAM.  Starting to trend towards perhaps a couple of inches if CAD can hold on.

06Z 12KM NAM hints at a pretty decent snow event, especially given the possibility of a weak coastal low development.

Long Island could get a couple of inches.

Yes many are too focused for the next one but those on the coast this has potential 1-3, 4 in isolated spots and those are place that didnt get over a coating so far this winter. This also can lay the ground work for a long cod solution if there will be enough to fall which would prolong the front thump.

Good observation and point added here.

Whatever tools available to help keep the thermal profile on and near the surface colder, the better to the subsequent event. A light snow cover on the ground could be a game changer where the thermal profile is marginal.

And I´m sure the area from central NJ to NYC metro, Long Island, SE NY and southern portions of CT, would really appreciate getting a couple of inches of snow.

12Z NAM isn´t as organized with the precipitation shield as the 6Z NAM.

I could see a booker out of this for a lot of people here. Might end up being better than the one that follows on the 13th :classic_ninja:

Kinda funny, but this small push of moisture out front of the 13th primary tracker could produce my biggest snow for the year if the colder trend continues.

This is actually my best shot in central Maryland for frozen precipitation this coming week  😉 after this. The next 2 storms are a little warmer. So. Could mean more of a liquid variety . Time to get the rain Guage ready :)
