February 19-21 Winter Storm OBS

Staff Recommended Posts

Not much excitement for the OV folks this week (unless you like flooding potential - I don't, lol) - The week of Feb. 18 has looked promising for a while now. Lots of signals showing the potential of the 18-20th time frame. @Grace made a nice post in the LR thread about this time frame. Might as well go ahead & get the ball rolling since this week will be pure drudgery.

If the Deep South gets a foot of snow it will shut them down for a week.

I think the models have no idea whats going to happen.  I'll let you know my disappointment in 5 days. ;)

absolute monster on the 12z GFS

There could be a lot of moisture with this. The big key is where does SER flex. Is it suppressed a tad more than it has been? SER is also a big cause in the large amount of moisture that will be available.

This will draw moisture from PAC & GOM. Not sure if models are totally in sync with that yet. Could over achieve in flooding & wintry aspects. Also think ice will be an issue, more than shown now between snow & the floods

If this does not move back south my disappointment will be great. This is the one I've had my hopes on for a while that I thought may stay further south.
