February 19-21 Winter Storm OBS

Twin Cities getting slammed.......again.

They should have no problem making February the snowiest on record.

This storm will do it for them. They were only 4.3" away before this storm, which should lay down a nice 6-8" for them.

On another note, I picked up another 0.5" IMBY with a solid glaze of ice from the freezing drizzle. Whoop whoop!

Hoping you get a thump before the season ends, Snow!

You ought to change your name to GreenGrass_ so that snows will come hard and heavy :O)

That’s not a bad idea lol. I might do that.

if the season were to end today I’m satisfied just because of January. Didn’t get a lot of snow but the snow we got was fascinating. Thundersnow, blizzard conditions. Ice Storm in November. It was a fun season despite not getting a true snow without any rain or having more than 3 inches at any given time.

Drove from Celina to Greenville this morning and kept thinking snow was getting deeper as I drove south. Was guessing Greenville had between 4 and 5. Pretty accurate map for those northwestern counties I'd say.

OT- if you like eye candy, go take a look at hour 276 of the 12z FV3, lol

I've never seen this hazard type show up here before. lol  It's too bad it's not only hour 276 but it's also the FV3. Maybe we can will this storm into existence. It would cure this winter's snow blues for about 80% of Ohio if that happened. xD

Blizz.PNG

Edit this is what the storm looks like. It would make a lot of people on this sub very happy, but also quite a few people very mad. The bad news for the happy people is again the fact it's 276 hours out and is shown by the FV3. The GFS does have a storm in this time frame, but it's a weak slider, which would be probably what would happen lol.

I peaked out the window early this morning before the change over to rain/ice and we had about a half inch of white stuffs IMBY. Road reports this morning were a bit rough north of here, but the rain has erased all traces of any snow even happening last night.

Just heard thunder from the rain side now now that's probably something I'll never witness again. 2 types of thunderstorms in the same day. Snow has condensed down to about 2" of absolute slop. But still making a nice landscape for now

Surprised there is still snow left. I'm sure its cement by now. I believe the last time I've personally seen lightning/heard thunder during a snowstorm was from the Dec 2012 "blizzard". This mornings strikes were really something. Going from snow to sleet/ZR back to 100% cat paw snow with lightning will be a memorable event for me.

I've been near reported thundersnow, but I've never really experienced myself so I'm very jealous of you guys!

Were you not there for the GHD Blizzard? They actually had severe hail reports with some of the convection
