  1. glorious summer continues... EC is on a quite a roll of busted forecasts. haha. All the forecasts of clouds and showers haven't come close to materializing. Last Thurs we had a great late day storm but before and immediately after, it was hot and sunny. Yesterdays forecast was for clouds and showers. Was mostly sunny, hot and humid with not a drop. Today, we're sitting under blue sky and satellite imagery is wide open. We've also been surpassing 30 degrees in the city day after day, while YHM stalls out in the 28-29 range most days. And if the long range model solutions are accurate, this will go down as one of the best summers in ages around here.....
  2. thought I'd pop in for a quick mid-summer update....wow, what a summer. Who would have thought it would be this stunning back in May?? haha. Mid-June a switch was flipped here and it hasn't stopped. I was down south the first half of July and hear it was scorching up here. I returned 11 days ago and it's been gorgeous and sunny non-stop. We had some overnight rain earlier this week, but otherwise very dry and perfect. Apparently there was one day with huge storms while I was away. I came home to an almost full rain gauge! Long range forecast looks like more of the same. This summer is shaping up to be a great one. Enjoy folks! Hope it's the same everywhere (admittedly, I've not followed the weather outside my own backyard due to the benign pattern)
  3. absolutely spectacular stretch of summer heat continues!! I'm headed to Florida, but today literally felt like Florida here. The next week looks comfortably hot and sunny here...enjoy!
  4. 28, 25 and 30 degrees here the last 3 days. Just gorgeous! Nice amount of humidity too. Feels like proper July summer. Monday was a real shocker too due to the forecast of showers and low/mid 20's. 28 and sunny all day was fantastic. Late night rain and a nice T-storm here around 5am this morning. Otherwise, wall to wall sun during the daytime and hot. More of the same coming up the next few days...weekend looks stellar at the moment too. We really flipped the switch a couple of weeks ago. Keep it coming!

well this has been a great stretch of forecasts busting in our favour. Mid-week last week models showed anywhere from 80-120mm for my area over the weekend. We ended up not seeing a single drop! Now yesterday and today had plenty of clouds in the forecast and instead we're seeing wall to wall sun with the odd cloud mixed in. Just gorgeous! Suddenly we're in a stretch where we've only seen rain in 3 of the last 13 days. Mostly sunny too!! Finally!

Wow...how stunning is this??? Thankfully the cold east wind didn't materialize. This is literally perfect weather. No chance of rain until Monday too.

Good news and bad news... many models bringing our longest dry sunny stretch in ages from Thurs into next week. Unfortunateky models are still up in the air on the duration of a cold east wind during this timeframe. Anywhere from 3-7 days straight being shown at the moment. Don’t be fooled by the gorgeous forecast. If that wind verifies, we’ll be stuck in the mid teens day after day.

and now we've got the geniuses at CBC pumping out articles here about how climate change is forever changing Hamilton's waterfront landscape. Ummm, feel free to do some actual research once in a while folks. Lake Ontario would be facing zero flooding issues if we were leaving the waterways alone to run their course naturally. Someone, somewhere makes the call to intentionally flood out properties around lake ontario instead of allowing properties along the St Lawrence to flood. Due to the fact that entire neighbourhoods or town can be washed way down the St Lawrence during flooding events, the lesser of two evils is being chosen. But to pin Lake Ontario's water level on anything other than man-made dams is pathetic posturing (I know, I know, it's the CBC)

Meanwhile, it's 26 feeling like 33 in Windsor. I've never seen a pattern where a constant SE Ridge gets cut off basically along the Lake Erie shoreline. Usually a SE ridge is heavenly up here.

one of the things not helping our cause down here is the artificially high water levels on Lake Ontario. I get why the dam system has been closed and is preventing quick drainage out the St Lawrence, but in keeping the lake deeper, it allows the colder water temps to hang around. Lots of rain and little sun for April and the first 2.5 weeks of May is also keeping the water cold. Hopefully they'll open the system up soon and let the lake drain to the Atlantic, and hopefully we'll get a few warm, sunny weeks.

All good things must come to an end. 5 straight days in the 20s with tons of sun. Been spectacular. Actually the weather has by and large been great since we got rid of that last garbage storm Mother’s Day. Been out for 2 runs, 3 rides and several hikes. Making up for lost time. Today is raw and cool again.

well, no complaints about this week! Stunning. Even the forecast showers Wed eve and last night didn't materialize. All the action stayed north. Another full blue sky day out there today, approaching 20. Sat looking chilly with a lake breeze, but all models now seem to be on board for 26-28 with humidex readings in the mid 30's for Sunday. Yes please!!

this mornings ensembles continuing a good trend that began yesterday afternoon - pushing the weekend low further NW and allowing us to get under the influence of a warm S wind at the surface for Sun-Mon. Sat looks to remain chilly with an E flow, but if these ensembles continue on this path, we will see temps in the 20's and rather humid Sun-Mon with showers, but also some sunny times. At the moment the CMCE, GEFS and EPS all show this solution.
