  1. And we begin... Winter Storm Watches are up in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma.. Missing Kansas City to the south. Another crazy perspective. Alerts by state Random Pick. For Tulsa. Current View of the Upper Levels. Ashame the Upper Level pattern is this flat. Interesting for points south but sucks for snow lovers of Mid Atlantic and Northeast. Euro had the Upper level right for today 6 days ago
  2. Latest Euro00z Snowfall totals (Based on 10:1). So lets look at the actual data the Euro is producing for Greensboro, North Carolina. 1.65" qpf total! Look at the 850mb column. Goes above freezing for 2nd half of storm. This to me would be snow to start (4-6" of it) then sleet as a little warm air gets mixed in aloft. Now look at Asheville, NC. 2.28" qpf and cold enough for all snow!! So 2.28 (liquid falling) x 12(ratios) = Looks like heaviest would be Sunday 1am-7am
  3. Hidden inside the pdf hazard outlook briefing the first preliminary snowfall forecast map by NWS. Obviously subject to change. Looks historic with 12"+ in North Carolina. At least a Top 5 for December? https://www.weather.gov/gsp/brief
  4. Top 5 for Asheville coming? Interesting Superstorm flashback
  5. Whoa! NWS Greenville saying a once in a generation snow-sleet storm possible for western North Carolina. Miller A setup https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=GSP&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=0&highlight=off
  6. Just checked qpf for Philly. 0.02". Back to sleep 0.35" for DC. Marginal 850s near freezing
  7. Wow Euro. Looking for maps I came across this for Kentucky. Says it all.
  8. 18z EuroEPS trends north with the precip vs 12z.
  9. I didn't expect to see this. https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/medr/medr.shtml WPC forecast places the storm there on Tuesday.
  10. Awesome tweet thread with graphics re: SSW & Polar Vortex 13 points

  12. Current 850mb temps. (5000') -20C line has crossed the U.S border now in NY. Should get down to Hartford and over Eastern MA -10C line should get as far south as Baltimore. Thats pretty much the Arctic front. Hope hikers are prepared. What an airmass to look at and experience in November. I never have. We never have. Zoomed out plenty of sites to see the current 850mb temps. https://www.spc.noaa.gov/sfctest/new/viewsector.php?sector=19&parm=850mb https://aviationweather.gov/windtemp/plot
