Important Security Updates

Encryption (Effects all major server/web applications that use secure connections, pretty much all)

Reconfigured our TLS/SSL security with some important changes that may effect some

  • Dropped TLS 1.1 Protocol support
  • Accepting TLS 1.2 and the new TLS 1.3 connections only
  • This will effect access on some older devices running outdated/obsolete/deprecated browsers. If you are using anything listed below please upgrade immediately and protect yourself cause the old software wont.

Safari 6 / iOS 6.0.1    Server sent fatal alert: handshake_failure
Safari 7 / iOS 7.1    Server sent fatal alert: handshake_failure
Safari 7 / OS X 10.9   Server sent fatal alert: handshake_failure
Safari 8 / iOS 8.4    Server sent fatal alert: handshake_failure
Safari 8 / OS X 10.10    Server sent fatal alert: handshake_failure

IE 11 / Win Phone 8.1    Server sent fatal alert: handshake_failure

There are probably some others a full list and info can be seen at link below. Devices and browsers that do not support secure and strong ciphers are no longer compatible with this site and for good reason they are vulnerable. At the same time allowing these clients to connect using older insecure protocols makes wxdisco server vulnerable, so the bottom line is protect the members privacy and security and that ideology is passed throughout the site.

Mail Server/DNS Server

Also did a complete security audit of the Mail and DNS servers which have been equally updated for tighter security but as all softwares go nothing is perfect so monitoring and room for improvement is always at the ready.

Any issues connecting whether its web or email please let me know asap. Thanks!
