I am new here, not really sure where to find the things to get a thread going but I am very interested in active weather in the Great Lakes area.

I would like to begin with today; June 1st, 2019.

I appreciate any and all knowledge.

Thanks!

Welcome @WeatherMate. Right now is not the busy season for the forum. Especially on the Canadian side. Winter is when things get more active.

Looks like there is the risk of some thundershowers tonight and tomorrow but I’d say non severe in general. It doesn’t seem like it’s hot enough to get those daytime heating severe storms just yet.

What happened to everybody?  On Accuweather we use to do posts about thunderstorms and any weather system.  I can't believe there is nobody here...

I’d like to know why nobody( forecasters) can’t predict anything past 24 hours. Seems they are all just guessing.

Are we getting the heat this weekend?

EC has GTA 27-28 degrees while others are more in the low 20’s

Seems like a dustbowl in the Canada section. Not sure where everyone went.

Most of the posters here are in the Quebec-Windsor corridor, and the main interesting item is winter snowfall events. There's usually nothing much happening during the summer. This part of Canada gets a rare tornado, or an even very rare hurricane remnants like Hazel in 1954  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Hazel

But most of the summer it's "sunny with cloudy periods, becoming cloudy with sunny periods", with occasional rainfall events. I grew up in Winnipeg (think northern extension of US Great Plains). We had quite a few "interesting" thunderstorms every summer. Most of the thunderstorms in our area are wimpy in comparison.

Like "Ahnold" says, we'll be back... come the winter.

Sadly the way the whole accu weather thing went down, many didn't get the word of this site and then it just went offline. I am sure many were lost when they couldn't find the accu forums and probably had/have no clue or idea that many members moved here, But the few we have can keep this forum active and hopefully people from the Canadian regions will find it it on Google and join in . Start small and grow, that's all we can ask.
