Tornado touches down on long Island

Staff Recommended Posts

http://longisland.news12.com/story/39378891/national-weather-service-confirms-tornado-hit-fishers-island

This storm last night literally woke me out of a deep sleep. The lightning and thunder were some of the worst I've experienced in quite some time. There was also hail and then as quickly as it started, it ended: about eight minutes in all.

The tornado was at the tip of Long Island, off the North Fork. It was rated an EF0 with a reported two mile wide path and winds of 65-85mph.

Talk about coming out of nowhere...similar length and strength to the tornado that literally jumps over my house a few years back. I was, of course, not home at the time.

just glad it wasn’t plum island....too soon?

Seriously though, amazing to hear a tornado ripped down through a marine layer in late October....
