November 9th-10th Eastern Storm

Staff Recommended Posts

Trying out what knorthern knight suggested about starting storm threads in the main forum section instead of the regional discussion threads.

Anyways, looks like a system will be tracking into ON and then heading out east during this time frame. It’s the first of several opportunities for areas to see there first snowfall of the season.

The pattern is turning colder for the next while with a train of systems tracking in and around the east. We’ll start with this one and go from there.

Some areas should see snow from this. Areas around the lake shore might still be too warm for accumulations but some areas away from the lake shore will likely see some accumulation out of this system. Next system has the potential for more widespread snows. Lots to keep an eye on.

Issue with attachments @SNOWBOB11? Seem to be all deleted. Let me know if you need assistance.

Oh, are they not showing up? I deleted them out of my attachments in my profile but I didn’t know it would delete them from my post. Sorry about that. I still see them on my end for some reason. I’m going to post a bunch more up to date images now.

Hoping to get some more people on the canadian side of the forum showing up now that winter is almost here.

Also are you ok if we start topics in this section instead of the regional section?

Here are some images from the 18z GFS and NAM.

18z NAM does have a change to snow for most areas including around the lake shore. GFS with it's lesser resolution isn’t showing it as well. I’m leaning toward the NAM here as I think enough cold air will get pulled into the system to have some snow even into the GTA.

You see them cause they are cached in your browser, all we see is broken images. I have removed them from the post. You can edit to add them back if you want.

If you delete files from your files list in profile, you delete the files from the server.

Ok, won’t happen again. Thanks for pointing that out. Really like the layout and features of the site by the way. Thanks for putting it all together.

I think it's a great idea to start individual storm threads like this one, it'll be interesting to see where the mixing line is for some of this snow, guessing the lakes will have a large effect. Don't mean to bring a future system into this, but theres another potential storm next tuesday/wednesday it seems.

Yes, I posted a couple images for that next one in the LR winter thread. That system looks to have more cold air in place so a better chance for snow if it can track a bit more NW.

Would like you guys to post more events when applicable and nice storm thread guidelines conforming presentations so I can start featuring Canada stories on the dashboard/home page. Its up to you guys to get this area active and bring in more members from Canada. Thanks and any help you need just ask staff.

I posted a thread on AccuWeather urging any users still over there to come join us on here. Hopefully we can get back to our previous levels of activity on this side of the border.

Things look more or less the same with this system on todays model runs. Should be some wet snow for the region but mostly rain for around the lakes. Next system still being shown too far east for S ON.

Temperatures are too warm in southern Ontario. The system is forecast to put down noticable amounts of snow in an east to west region central New Brunswick to northern Maine to Quebec City to the Ontario border. Here are 6-hour snow amounts in inches valid 7 AM EST Saturday 11th.

The 00z Friday CMC has the next storm giving S ON around the lake approximately 4 inches of snow and 7+ further east and north. Something to keep an eye on for sure, I have my snow tires on so I'm ready :classic_happy:

Yes, guidance has shifted NW with the next low. This includes the GFS. There should be a thread for that one. Please anyone feel free to start one. If no one does I'll start one later today.

Will let you do the honor on a new thread, still learning how to navigate in the new forum 😂

Wet snow in Stoney Creek now, none is accumulating of course.

Been snowing in Newmarket/Aurora since 9 am... accumulating on cars and on the grass but nothing on the roads yet.  But, wow, was it ever coming down hard.  A Parry Sound live cam looks like a blizzard.  Here is the link if anyone wants to have a look. http://www.thebowens.name/    Happy Friday!  Nice to see you all here again!

As mentioned before, it looks like Quebec City will be getting some real snow...
