Jan 2nd - 3rd, 2019 | Winter Storm

Staff Recommended Posts

Lets forget about 2018 and into 2019 we go. Another piece of energy rounding the base of the trough... will it eject and amplify or shear away?

I think models are going to do with this system what they did with the New Year's Eve system.

6ZGFS. Snow maps have been remarkably clean this winter. As Grace posted a little amplification and a bit more cold air pulled in could alter this version for your areas.

I don’t know if I would rather get excited with some clown maps that don’t come to fruition or just stay with this painful monotony of blank snow maps.

Is it me or has the FV3 GFS experimental been biased towards more wound up colder solutions this winter.

Precip gets into the SE 3rd of Ohio but mostly rain with a brief period of frozen at the onset on the 12z Euro.

Right now it's just encouraging to see something to work with. We'll wait & see what's cooking a few days from now.

The H5 for now supports a SE storm perhaps riding the apps. If it cuts off then it supports a more NW track although warmer. Lets watch the H5 carefully, especially ahead of the vort.
