January 20 - February 1 Arctic Cold

Staff Recommended Posts

Ended the night at -2.0 even.  Clouds in and out kept things from dropping too far.  Currently at 2.2 degrees.

9:30 in the morning, full sun is out and we are still sitting at -1 in Royal Oak. I’m no expert, but that’s cold.

My weather station said -8.9 this morning at home. Call me weird, but there is something really refreshing about taking a couple deep breaths of that really cold air.

Checking temps via the ILN Public statement: Kettering, Miamisburg and Dayton Wright airport reported a low of 2 below.  Jives with my readings.

No, I'm right there with you @ZumaRat. Especially after the first half of winter was so warm and snowless.

If you are looking for relief in the cold, do not look to the 1/21 12Z Euro EPS

Wow, that cold snap around the 29th looks brutal. The Euro typically carries a slight warm biased too, doesn't it?

2 be honest, I am not sure that such a bias exist but other may know.  As far as the depth of potential cold shown, it is impressive the depth shown this many hours away.

It's just stupid cold outside.  6 degrees out right now. I don't like it. I change my mind. I don't want winter anymore. I want 65 and sunny

Maybe we can get lucky with another snow system...although i wouldn't be surprised if things get a lot more suppressed with these shots of cold

I am at 7.2 degrees.  Probably will not see lower temps any more as clouds from the next system are moving in..

Obviously, one has to take the Euro weeklies..FWIW...but....It does not want to relent with the cold.

1/21 Euro Weeklies:

Dont really know where to leave this @ohiobuckeye45 @RobB , but are either (or anyone for that matter) familiar with this weather station:

if not, is there a weather station you prefer more than another? Appreciate anyone’s feedback.
