  1. 1/2" of rain. It did downpour for a while, but getting 1/2 inch out of a rainstorm, typically usual, seems unusual now.
  2. Here's another official version, which also notes some of the differences and upgrades. Text in box. I've highlighted that they acknowledge the excessive snow bias and persistent cold bias, as well as that they are incorporating live buoy data (which we need more of). https://www.weather.gov/media/notification/scn19-40gfs_v15_1.pdf
  3. Several sources have commented that the FV3 has now been rolled into the GFS as one package. No ideas yet as to any improvement made to the FV3. https://www.research.noaa.gov/article/ArtMID/587/ArticleID/2465/New-engine-is-driving-NOAA’s-flagship-weather-forecast-model https://www.noaa.gov/media-release/noaa-upgrades-us-global-weather-forecast-model https://twitter.com/TropicalTidbits/status/1138828918797086720 "The retiring version of the model will no longer be used in operations but will continue to run in parallel through September 2019 to provide model users with data access and additional time to compare performance." Also its been noted that since the hourly increments will be 3 beyond hr 240, the gfs will take 20 minutes longer to run. https://twitter.com/mfdwx/status/1138835301533724672 ECMWF upgraded as well.
  4. Great day. Monday looks interesting. I always seem to get sidetracked when I check the weather. Check out this tiny low on the 3k and how the 850 and 700mb temps are warmer than the surroundings.
  5. Pretty comprehensive studies can be found here... I need a translator though as its over my pay grade. Or a long weekend. https://www.gfdl.noaa.gov/global-warming-and-hurricanes/
  6. Gotta love our region. From record warmth in VA to much below normal in Maine. May was the second wettest on record https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/news/national-climate-201905 but only a few counties had record rain in our area
  7. Second wettest May for the US in 125 years of record keeping. Missed the 2015 record by .03". From last May to this May was also the wettest 12 month period in 125 years of record keeping. 37.68" of rain fell June-May. The previous June–May record was 35.47 inches and occurred from June 1982–May 1983. The previous all-time 12-month record was 36.20 inches and occurred from May 2018–April 2019. https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/news/national-climate-201905
  8. No - I can't. There's something wrong. Something is amiss. 5" of rain in 24 hrs from a non tropical noreaster in June.
  9. HRRR has them fizzling out before they get here. Not staying up for them! Enjoy your tstorms. See more of them tomorrow.
  10. May summary for SW CT - wet. 7 of 31 days had no rain. 22% dry days. The two stations I live between had differing rain amounts as well. One being well over, the other at normal. DXR (Danbury)/OXC (Oxford) My backyard.

  13. I couldn't find a public statement on it either. Here's a link to the AHPS precip page. I like the RFC version on the right side. That will also link you to CoCoRahs. https://water.weather.gov/precip/rfc.php
  14. Six days without rain in May. Eight days without rain in April.
  15. Didn't really notice it. Wasn't out on the road though. Its pitch black where I live anyway, especially now with the leaves. You look out from the house at night and unless a car is coming, don't see anything.
  16. Surprised Z5 and Y5 aren't warned for Severe. J6 at the bottom is /
